Museo Carlo Bilotti - Aranciera di Villa Borghese festeggia i 15 anni di apertura: 2006 – 2021
2021.06.26.
https://www.comune.roma.it/web/it/notizia.page?contentId=NWS796558

Alessandra Di Castro

Locations

piazza Di Spagna 4
00187 Rome

Alessandra Di Castro descends from an old Roman family of antique dealers working in the sector since 1878. The historic shop faces Piazza di Spagna. The gallery’s entrance leads through a secret courtyard boasting a wealth of colored marble to the intimate and private rooms of a historic 17th-century palazzo where antique paintings, sculptures and precious objets d’art from the Renaissance to early Neoclassicism are exhibited. The works, which Alessandra Di Castro selects personally, come primarily from private collections and show a distinctive and recognizable taste.

Having received a degree both in Art History from the La Sapienza University in Rome, and in decorative arts from the Study Center in London, Alessandra Di Castro is Chairwoman of the Jewish Museum Foundation in Rome. In 2019, she received the Iris Award from the Bard Graduate Center in New York for distinguishing herself in the field of decorative arts. In December 2019, she was elected President of the Italian Antiquarians Association. Since 2020, she has sat on the TEFAF Board of Trustees.

I founded Ermes in 2015 in Rome, initially as a nomadic gallery. My limited budget meant I was unable to afford a permanent space so I thought it would be interesting to organize exhibitions in places with unique characteristics that would stimulate the artists to respond to them and to the limitations of the spaces themselves. Every exhibition was in a different venue; in March 2017 I opened the first permanent space in Vienna, a former horse stable in the heart of the city. Due to the Covid pandemic I decided to move back to Rome, as I needed to be in my country, closer to my loved ones in such a special moment. I always feel inspired by difficulties and challenging situations. The program has definitely an intuitive approach, it’s a very personal narration where each show is considered like a chapter of a poetry book. It presents Italian and international artists whose practices investigate diverse media: sculpture, painting, photography, video, performance, and installations.

Frutta opened in Rome in January 2012.
Its program is based on solo projects of the artists represented by the gallery, punctuated with group shows and shows by other international artists.
The gallery has a strong focus on emerging Italian artists.
The exhibition model itself is fundamental to Frutta’s research activities which, questioning the current standardized formations of exhibitions, result in dissecting the parameters of exhibition-making as an artistic medium, providing opportunities to disrupt the status quo and offer alternative responses to the demands for presentations of artworks.

Gagosian
2021.06.18.

Larry Gagosian opened his first gallery in Los Angeles in 1980. In 1985, he opened a space in New York City, showing Emily and Burton Tremaine’s famous collection. From 1989 to 1996, he managed, together with the legendary gallerist Leo Castelli, an exhibition space in SoHo dedicated to important exhibitions of post-war American art. In forty years, Gagosian has been transformed into a global network with 18 exhibition spaces, well known for their exceptional architecture and programing.
Opened on December 15th, 2007, Gagosian Rome is the American network’s first gallery in continental Europe. Located in a 1921 building, between Piazza di Spagna and Via Veneto, the space was designed by the Rome-based architect Firouz Galdo.
Since 2007, under the guidance of Pepi Marchetti Franchi, the gallery has presented over 50 exhibitions, showing many of the greatest international artists. In recent years, the gallery has also cultivated important institutional relationships that have led to major exhibition projects in various Italian cities.

With twenty years’ experience in the international art market, in 2014 Umberto Giacometti founded Giacometti Old Master Paintings.

Since its foundation, the gallery has been invited to exhibit in major international art fairs such as TEFAF Maastricht, TEFAF New York, Paris Tableau, Highlights International Art Fair in Munich, the International Biennial Antiques Fair in Florence and Rome and Flashback in Turin.
GOMP’s core activities are researching, selecting and selling rare and significant artworks, by engaging in a rigorous confrontation with scholars, curators and collectors and in an open dialogue with public and private institutions in Europe and the US. Particularly fruitful is the gallery’s relationship with the museums in Italy, which has resulted in recent prestigious acquisitions by the Museum of San Martino in Naples and the Ducal Palace Museum in Mantua.

With the upcoming opening of the two new venues in Rome and Naples, the presentation of paintings, drawings and sculptures dating from the 16th to the 20th century will involve younger generations in projects of professional training and digital communication.

“In the digital age, the gallery has a less important role, but it remains the rendezvous for whoever wants to understand artworks with others.”

Since 1997, Magazzino has supported and promoted research within the field of contemporary art, working directly with artists, critics and curators. One of the gallery’s main aims is focused on the international promotion of the work of Italian artists, whether emerging or established, as well as that of international artists exhibiting in Rome for the first time.
Another principle activity of Magazzino is the creation of exhibition projects conceived and curated specifically for the gallery space. Throughout the years, the gallery has developed several projects with its artists, supporting large-scale productions and projects, showcased in important Italian and international art exhibitions and events.
This identity, together with its participation in the most important international art fairs, has served to characterize Magazzino as one of the leading galleries in Rome.
